The Twinning Project

HMSC7N

Imagine lighting a pair of Shabbat candlesticks at the same time as a new friend half way around the world is lighting it's twin. Imagine making two mezuzot - one to hang in your classroom doorway, and one for the doorway of a classroom in Israel.

This is the type of experience we hope to be able to help you with through our unique Twinning Project component of the Hiddur Mitzvah Project.

As part of your Hiddur Mitzvah program, you can choose to make two items, be it Shabbat candlesticks, mezuzot*, or something else - one for yourself and one to give away. When you choose to do a Twinning Project, the cost for those pieces is cut to 50% of retail. Essentially you will be purchasing the piece you keep at full retail value, and the one you are giving away is free.

This is a great project if you have a sister organization in Israel or another community. It could be used in a number

of other ways as well. For example, for Hanukkah you could do a dreidel top Twinning Project where participants create a dreidel for themselves, and one to give away to Jewish patients at a children's hospital who may not be home for the holiday. We do not currently have specific organizations or communities we have ties with in regards to the Twinning Project, but can offer suggestions of the types of places to look for and work with.

If this is something that interests you just talk to us about it when you are setting up your project or contact us with any questions any time.
